Last Wednesday, Phnom Penh put on quite the show (or, should I say, downpour?)!
As you can see from the photo, the sky has gone full-monsoon mode. Those dark clouds definitely lived up to the rainy season reputation. To give you a better sense of the atmosphere, I’ve also included a short video clip below. Take a peek and you’ll see streets drenched in rain, and vehicles zipping by.

Wow, it’s coming down hard! Cool video.
It definitely is! Monsoon season doesn’t mess around in Phnom Penh. This is a pretty typical downpour here. What’s the weather like where you are?
I miss the rainy/monsoon season in Asia.
Worth a Thousand Words
It can definitely be a powerful sight! The rain transforms the city, doesn’t it? What do you miss most about the rainy season in Asia?
Wow, you were not kidding when you said downpour!!
I was on a fishing boat on a lake north of Houston, Texas with a friend of mine. We got caught in a sudden downpour and it looked like it was going to last a while so I beached the boat on a small sandy island. He and I just stood there in the rain as it came down hard. A short while later he yelled at me “I cannot take this any longer!!!!” I just laughed and said “I don’t even know what that means David!” We’re stuck
Haha, sounds like you and David had an unexpected adventure! At least you had an island to “beach” on – beats being stuck in the middle of the lake; some folks get stuck in traffic!
Oh wow – those wipers trying to keep up!!
