Hi there. Thanks for dropping by my blog. This blog is back from the dead after a long hiatus.
I’m Sreisaat. It means pretty lady in Khmer. It’s one of the first words I learned when I came here over a decade ago, right after chum riep soo (hello) and okorn charaen (thank you).
I live in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, but I sometimes travel to the provinces for work. I’ve worked in various NGOs here, dealing with food security, environment, community, rural ICT4Dev, media, women, and health issues. I took a break for a few years to focus on myself, but it was a bad idea. Staying at home with nothing to do was boring, so I went back to work.
Being an expat can make you feel lonely, or homesick, but it can also be exciting. You just need to have the right perspective, attitude, and companions. Instead of whining about missing home, I go to thrift shops and look for hidden gems – books, trinkets, and stuff. You can also see me in a coffee shop, quietly doing calligraphy or reading a book, or on the streets sketching whatever I like. When I don’t have my sketching tools, I take photos and paint them later in my journal.
So, welcome to my site. If you are a geek like me, I’d love to hear from you and see your projects. Please leave comments and your blog links or send me a message via my Contact Page. Let’s start a blog roll!
