Sreisaat Who?

Hello. Thank you for visiting my blog.

My name is Sreisaat. It means pretty lady in the Khmer language. It’s actually one of the first few Khmer words I learned upon my arrival here more than a decade ago.

I am married to an English gentleman, without kids (none yet, anyway), and home is currently here in capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. We are joined by our boisterous dogs, Max, Joe, and Red. Before meeting my husband, I’ve worked in different NGOs here, involved in environmental conservation, rural ICT4D, women, and the media. Now that I’m done with all that work, I’ve embarked on another career, this time as a stay-at-home wife. I realise just how difficult it is to be one. I’ll spare you the drama.

I guess you could say that I am a Sreisaat with so many interests. I am an inveterate crafter, a newly-converted insane thrift-hunter, a voracious eater, a self-taught calligrapher/letterer and a point-and-shoot photography enthusiast. Not too long ago, I also picked up a hobby that I had left behind in my childhood – postcard and stamp collection – with much enthusiasm.

Too much going on in my plate, you say? Not really. Instead of sulking and moping and griping about my state of childlessness and moaning about homesickness, I descend upon local shops for the hard-to-find yarns, crochet hooks, fabrics, inks, brush pens, and paper crafting materials for my craft fix. Or scour the local ukay-ukay (secondhand or thrift) shops in the city, seeking thrill in hunting items – from gadgets to clothes, knick-knacks, red-tagged items, and what-have-yous.

And these are what I write mostly about here as I fumble and bumble over daily life being a stay-at-home wife overseas. Although I can’t promise to update regularly, but you know what, when I do, I’ll try to be as interesting and amusing as much as I can to make up for the lack of posts 😉

So come and join me, the four-eyed missus Sreisaat,  in my continuing {mis}adventures here in the Kingdom of Wonder.
